How to Design a Popup Business Card Step by Step

How to Design a Popup Business Card Step by Step 207 Inspire employers with a memorable popup business card. Marivi Garrido Bianchini's popout (or popup) business card design was featured in 125+ Creative Business Card Designs That Make You Unforgettable. In this guest post, she explains her design process. This is a guest post by Marivi Garrido Bianchini. If you’d also like to guest post here on JobMob, follow these guest post guidelines. I was born in Barcelona, Spain (1949) and at the age of three emigrated with my parents to Argentina where I ultimately obtained a degree of Architecture and Urbanism, and I also became a Math teacher.eval During my teaching days, while looking for new practical and pleasant methods for my classes, I discovered Origamic Architecture. Origamic Architecture: “the three-dimensional reproduction of architecture, geometric patterns, everyday objects, or other images, on various scales, using cut-out and folded paper” â€" Wikipedia Since that moment, designing popup books and cards became my passion.eval My business card is a pop-up design that I designed for a big exhibition at the Alcazar de Toledo (Spain) about Don Quixote. I think that it represents my business very well. I thought that it could be interesting to write a few words about the design process I follow, in this case, designing a pop-up book. Step 1 Make a pencil drawing with a view to decide: the scale of the work its position in the base sheet if any other pop-up object will accompany the main subject which type of mechanism or movements would work well for each spread Step 2 Once the pencil sketch is approved e.g. by the client, I go on with the most technical aspect of the work, which is to transfer the idea to a set of pieces interlocked with one another. I make a drawing of each piece on my computer with AutoCad or Adobe Illustrator. Each part is like a watch piece that must be adjusted accurately in its place so that the entire mechanism works. This stage is based more on geometrical properties rather than on the artistic inspiration. Step 3 I don’t design a whole building in the first stage. Rather, I start by looking into the characteristic features that define it, and draw them into the pieces. Then I print, cut and assemble the pieces to study and see if they will serve the purpose. Step 4 This is the adjustment stage where I take the first prototype and start making corrections, going back to the design of the pieces to modify them. I print, cut and assemble them again as much as necessary until I get the result that I like best and am prepared to publish. Different formats The Miniature books are entirely my own creation from the very inception of the idea until its production. Once I select a subject for the book I imagine the more convenient pop-ups and that will also determine the format, i.e. if it will be designed in the sliceform system like Vic's Cathedral or if it will be a carousel type as in “A.Gaudi” with 5 buildings to be unfolded as a 5-pointed star: The books can also be designed in the accordion system such as the “Illustrated Architecture Glossary” or finally, one 90 º pop-up or single pieces interlocked such as in the “Four Seasons” book: About the Author Marivi Garrido Bianchini has published 4 regular pop-up books and more than 25 miniature books and participated in many international exhibitions around the world starting in 2001 with the American Craft Museum in New York. Resume Examples - What To Look For

Resume Examples - What To Look ForWhile you're using resume examples, you might find it helpful to create your own. This is a great way to customize the information that you include on your resume. The most important thing to remember when creating your own is to be as detailed as possible.I found that examples offered through the Internet were usually very vague, which was fine for creating a resume. However, if you're applying for a job that requires more detailed requirements, you'll want to use resume examples that will better serve your needs. Here are some tips to help you achieve this. The first critical issue is to know what you're trying to accomplish. If you're just looking for a job, it's OK to go for a more general resume example. However, if you need to include an academic transcript or a letter of recommendation, you'll want to use examples that demonstrate these items. The same is true for cover letters and a resume and cover letter both need to be professional.Your res ume should have the right format, and you should also be looking for examples that reflect the type of work you have done in the past. For example, if you're a writer, it makes sense to use examples that show you have published your work. Likewise, if you've worked in non-technical positions, it makes sense to use a resume example that includes your qualifications. You can also make the most of your time by looking for examples that are closest to the best solution for your situation. This will help ensure that your resume fits into the job profile exactly. For example, if you need to take out ads to get the word out about your product, then you'll want to avoid resume examples that don't make this point clear. You can also go even further than this by looking for examples that represent the type of work that you actually do. If you've been involved in a specific project, then you can use a design resume example that has the right layout, colors, and fonts. Also, you may want to consi der applying the same style and color scheme throughout your entire resume. These examples are also great for the application process itself. By helping you to see how you can get the most out of the application process, they will make it easier for you to make a strong impression on the employer. In turn, you'll get more interview invites because you're more likely to be considered for the position.Using resume examples is an excellent strategy to improve your chances for a good job. When you combine this with personal references and academic proof, you can make the most of the hiring process. The idea is to apply the exact style you would have used in college, not the trendy styles that you thought were trendy. If you do this, you'll find yourself becoming a lot more competitive.

Give Your Job Search A Boost Avoid Blame - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Give Your Job Search A Boost Avoid Blame - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career We all do it at one time or another. We blame someone or something for what’s going wrong in our lives. We can’t do something we want because of a law, so we blame the lawmakers. We can’t get into a certain school, so we blame the university’s board of admissions. We are tired, so we blame the neighbor’s dog for keeping us awake all night. In the job search, there’s a lot of blame to go around. We can’t get a job, so we blame the human resources manager, the  recruiter, the hiring manager, the resume writer or the economy for being enemies of the unemployed. Understandably, there is a lot of frustration right now, and job search can be a soul-battering experience. At the end of the day, though, blame is a dangerous game. While there is certainly plenty of finger-pointing to go around, blame often leads to self-defeating behaviors. Those include: 1. Anger and Bad Attitude. These attitudes exude in email and in-person communications with potential job search influencers and interviewers. That chip on your shoulder is not appealing. No wonder no one wants to talk to you or respond to your resume submission. 2. Unwillingness to Change. This obstinance means you don’t listen to good advice, and thus, you keep doing the same thing over and over, yielding the same no-results outcome. 3. Inability to See Opportunity. Yes, opportunities are everywhere; they are in your email, in your social media stream, offline at the local industry association meeting or during personal downtime visiting with friends. If your vision is impaired, however, you aren’t seeing them; you are missing out. You can change this today by: 1. Adjusting Your Attitude. It can start with a forced smile, as the simple act of smiling can often trigger a visceral, more optimistic response. Then, reach out to resources (people, books, a sunny setting, a funny movie) that boost your mood. Determine to feel happier. A happier state of mind turns into a more hopeful and positive attitude, which is directly reflected in conversations with career influencers and hiring managers. 2. Allowing Change. Stamp out your stubbornness and realize that changing the way you think and/or do things doesn’t mean you were wrong, necessarily, but that there are other points of view. There are other ways of doing things, and your tunnel vision may be derailing just the result you are desperate to achieve. Listen to what others have to say about how to conduct an effective job search. Try an idea or two on for size without nitpicking. You might be surprised at the result if you really listen to â€" and apply â€" good advice. 3. Finding Opportunities. We often get bogged down in ourselves, convinced that we’re the only ones with problems so bad that we can barely breathe. We are convinced that no opportunities exist for someone in our situation. Stop this thinking today â€" open yourself back up to the possibilities. You will start seeing those glimmers of opportunities, and those will turn into sparks, and then, fiery moments of optimism and hope that turn into your next great gig. While this message may feel a bit Pollyanna-ish, it is much needed. These points are elemental ‘basics’ of a proactive, forward-moving search. Without the basics in place, none of the other ‘paddling’ you are frantically doing to stay afloat will help. Your job search will continue to sink under the weight of blame. Do You Hate Your Job

Do You Hate Your Job Are you in a job that stinks?   Do you wake up every morning saying I HATE MY JOB?   I know I have.   I worked for one company and every day I plotted how I could get myself fired.   Could I go and yell at my boss?   Could I really screw up by not doing any work?   Could I miss deadlines?   Could I not show up at meetings?   You know, I couldnt think of anything that I could do to get fired.   The pain of going in to work became so great, I started talking to people outside of work and asked them if they knew of anything.   Then, one day, a manager announced he was leaving our company.   I asked him where he was going.   To a new start-up was his reply.   Intrigued, I asked more questions.   We met for coffee.   I interviewed and got the job a month later. Let me back up to the part where I tried to get myself fired.   It wasnt going to work.   You know why?   My plans were mostly passive, not doing things.   The faster way would have been insubordination, but that would have tarnished my reputation and that was just inconceivable.   Why didnt I try and fix the situation instead of whining?   Because I didnt know how or didnt want to or it would be too much work.   I didnt take the time to really figure out what would make the situation better because I was lazy. Hating your job stinks.   It is draining, it hurts the old ego, it debilitates and paralyzes.   We dont think clearly.   We are too close to the situation to look at it objectively.   We need help from someone who can think clearly and walk us through scenarios.   Not just any scenarios, but ones that are effective and actionable. Someone needs to develop a course on How to fix a broken job.   There are lots of articles and general advice on the topic, but you want it customized based on your situation, right? Seth Godins post Getting Unstuck: Solving the Perfect Problem profoundly explains why getting unstuck is so difficult.   In the meantime, if you hate your job, consider these things: What are the things that make you hate your job?   Too much _________?   Not enough ____________? What would make the situation better?   New tasks, new manager, new project? How many times have you met with you manager to specifically discuss your dissatisfaction?   What solutions did they provide? Why cant you change the situation? If you were someone else, what advice would you give yourself? Who else within the company could you talk to for advice? Do you like the people you work with? It has been said that people dont leave jobs, they leave managers.   I have to agree.   And let me add, good managers are hard to find. You dont need to LOVE your job, but it would be nice.   You just need to like it enough to tolerate it and work on making it more rewarding.   In order to do that, you need to know what you think you want, what will make you happy.   Figure out what you dont like about your job and use that as a guide to move forward.   Screen new opportunities carefully.   Meet the team.   Really get to know your potential manager.   If you get bad vibes, guess what?   That means something.

This means the days of writing one general resume and sending it out to multiple employers are over. The best professional resume writers can help you target your resume for the short-term, while also setting a solid foundation for the long-term. Here are some of the main reasons why working with executive resume writer services is worth the investment. Answer A Recruiter’s Questions On Paper The best professional resume writers can anticipate questions a recruiter will have about your expertise and will work the answers directly into the resume. Not only could this potentially shorten your job search, but it may also help you prepare for an interview since you can get your mind thinking about the questions you may hear. Recruiters will always have questions for job candidates, but the more you can answer on paper, the fewer you will have to address verbally. Highlight Achievements Without Bragging It’s easy to write about your achievements when writing resumes and cover letters. However, you don’t want to come across as boasting. Sometimes you may not be intentionally bragging, so it’s always good to have another set of eyes look at your resume to make sure it doesn’t come across that way. Employers like confident employees, but tend to shy away from over-confident candidates. Save Time Writing resumes and cover letters on your own can take a significant amount of time. When you leave that task in the hands of professionals, you can spend your time on tasks like networking, boosting your online brand, preparing for potential interviews and actually applying for jobs. No one wants a job search to last longer than it has to, so save yourself valuable time by working with executive resume writer services. Polish Your Resume For Your Lifetime When you have a solid foundation for your resume, it’s possible only minor tweaks and updates will be needed for the duration of your career. However, developing the foundation can be challenging to do on your own without an expert to at least proofread it and make adjustments.
